We are delighted to announce a series of hands-on art workshops led by professional artists during the exhibition. The workshops will give primary school-aged children (5-11 years) the opportunity to learn directly from some of York’s most exciting artists, including Emily Sutton, Stephen Lee Hodgkins, and Lincoln Lightfoot.
The workshops are expected to start around 2:15pm and last between ninety minutes and two hours. You’ll need to stick around in the space as the exhibition will remain open during the workshops.
Workshop Highlights:

Tuesday 17th February with Emily Sutton – one of Yorkshire’s most beloved illustrators – will guide young artists through creative techniques inspired by her distinctive style, filled with charming details and vibrant storytelling.
Wednesday 18th February with Stephen Lee Hodgkins – York’s lifelong doodler and community printmaker – will lead children through playful drawing and printmaking techniques, exploring how doodles and marks can capture stories, feelings, and the world around us.

Friday 20th February with Lincoln Lightfoot – York’s sci-fi surrealist artist known for bringing B-movie monsters and aliens to life in the city’s iconic locations – will inspire young imaginations with drawing and painting techniques inspired by 1950s-60s B-movie poster art.
The workshops cost between £6 and £10, with all the money (minus the ticket platform fees) going to the YorKAOS charities.
