What is YorKAOS?
YorKAOS is a free public art exhibition showcasing the incredible work of young artists aged 5-11 from the York area.
Is there an admission fee to the exhibition?
There is no admission fee, this is a public exhibition
Where is the exhibition being hold?
At SPARK:York, 17—21 Piccadilly, YO1 9PB (Google Maps)
When is the exhibition open to the public?
The exhibition will be open during the February 2025 half-term holiday, from Tuesday 18 February, 11:00AM – Saturday 22 February, 1PM 2025.
Will there be an opening event?
Yes! There will be an opening event at 11AM on Tuesday 18th February. Meet local artist Lincoln Lightfoot – who has an appetite for dinosaur destroying landscapes.
Will there be a closing event?
Yes! Our exhibition Finale is starting at 10AM on Saturday 22nd February with renowned children’s book illustrator Emily Sutton!
Is the exhibition accessible?
Yes, the exhibition space is fully accessible.
Is car parking available?
Yes, York city centre is full of car parks
Are there public transportation options to the exhibition?
York city centre is served by many bus routes
Can I purchase artwork from the exhibition?
Yes, we have given the artists the choice to sell their work, with all of the money being donated to St. Leonard’s Hospice , BBC Children In Need and Explore York Libraries and Archives. We will operate a pay-as-you-feel system with a minimum price of £10 per artwork. We are only accepting card payments.
How can I learn more about the artists?
To maintain the anonymity of the young artists we will only be displaying their first name and their age, ie: “Seth, 8”
Are there any age restrictions for attending the exhibition?
During the day time there are no age restrictions to visit
Are there facilities for changing babies and toddlers?
Yes, SPARK:York have excellent facilities
Is there a cafe or food on site?
Yes, SPARK:York has a great selection of food, SPARK Traders which open at 12PM.
Are there any educational programmes or workshops associated with the exhibition?
At the opening and closing events you can meet famous local artists Lincoln Lightfoot and Emily Sutton.
Exotic Bird themed Quilling workshop – Wednesday 19th, 10am until 2.30pm. We’ve teamed up with Art Group Studios, who are running a workshop for kids price £25 for the day. Children just need to bring a packed lunch and a refillable water bottle . Everything else is provided , including light refreshments. The exhibition space will not be open to the public during the workshop. Tickets can be purchased at artgroupstudios.classforkids.io
There will be artworks that you participate in, we have taken inspiration from Tim Mann’s (timmannartist.com) “Crowded Rooms” community portraits, and will be creating “Of Time and Place”.
